Match report

It was 7 away games from 7 as we headed to New Advocates to take on unbeaten Stoneywood EE in the league.

In the opening minute of the game Chris Smith was brought down just outside the box. Free Kick specialist Stephen Strachan stepped up and made sure the keeper had no chance 1-0

With just four minutes gone we had double our lead, Strachan this time with the assist. A great ball over the top, which the defender completely missed, saw Jamie Dunn run through and calmly slot past the keeper 2-0

Stoneywood settled and start to come into the game a bit and it was a pretty even battle with neither team troubling the keepers.

As we pushed for a 3rd Stoneywood caught us on the break. Stephen Strachan brought down the striker inside the box as he ran through on goal. There was minimal contact but a Penalty nevertheless. Fifa’s new rules saw Strachan just receive a yellow when last season it could have been red.
Stoneywood’s striker stepped up and made no mistake from the spot 2-1

Half time (2-1)

We were starting to make a habit of coming out for the second half flying and it was almost 3 within minutes. Chris Smith with a superb strike at the edge of the box came back off the crossbar.

Thomas Simmers came close on 55 minutes after some superb play down the right from Ewen Morgan. But his cut back to Thomas curled inches past the far post.

It was only a matter of time till we got that 3rd goal. Chris Mackintosh with one of his trademark long throws to Daniel Mitchell, whom was too strong, as he took it past the defender and into the box. He then hit a thunderous shot from 7 yards out that no keeper in the world could have saved.

Stoneywood pulled a goal back with five minutes to go. A Free kick was whipped and their striker was unmarked inside the box and made no mistake with his header 3-2
Then on the 90th minute they had almost found an equaliser, Derek McKenzie had to be at his best and at his best he was. A shot from inside the box was superbly tipped over the bar and out for a corner.

Next week see’s us on our travels yet again and we had to Oldmeldrum to play Formartine.
