Rattrays were away from home for the 6th time in 6 games as we headed out to Alford.
The opening 10 minutes was pretty even with no team creating any real chances to trouble either goal keeper.
Then the first real chance of the game fell to Ross Doig as he found himself with only the keeper to beat but his audacious lob went over the bar.
Alford took the lead after 20 minutes totally against the run of play. Dek McKenzie left the ball to go out for a goal kick unaware that a striker was behind him at the far post. He then somehow managed to get his shot back across goal from an extremely tight angle 0-1
Alford should have doubled their lead when their striker found himself open with only Dek to beat but he pulled off a wonder reaction save to and pushed it onto the post.
Half Time (0-1)
We came out the blocks flying in the second half and substitute Tony Miller almost found an instant equalizer. His shot from 30 yards went inches past the top corner.
With 10 minutes gone in the second half Ewen Morgan put a brilliant ball into the box that the Alford defence could not deal with a came off the defenders hand…… PENALTY!!!!
Ross Doig stepped up and placed his shot to the keepers left, however it was the correct height and with no power the keeper easily turned it past his post.
The equalizer eventually came on the hour mark. Chris Smith with a smart side pass to Derek Yeats who hit his shot low and hard leaving the keeper with absolutely no chance 1-1
We were well on top and had Alford rattled. Chris Mackintosh then hit a blistering shot from 35 yards. As it headed for the postage stamp the keeper pulled off a wonder save.
With 10 minutes remaining we thought we had won it, Derek Yeats superbly took the ball away from the keepers feet and squared to Jamie Dunn for a tap in. But the keeper had dived and conned the ref into thinking he had been fouled from Yeats.
Alford would have been pleased that they managed to hang onto a draw
Full Time (1-1)
