Games are coming thick and fast and this time it was Kintore that headed Heathryfold.
Kintore started brightly and were probably just slightly the better team but did not really trouble Derek McKenzie in goals.
We opened the scoring on the 25 minute mark, totally against the run of play. A mistake from Kintore’s left back allowed Thomas Simmers to play a great ball through to Chris Smith up front. The keeper came rushing out but Smith calmly took it round him and slotted into the empty net.
This unsettled Kintore a bit as their defence started to wobble but we could not punish their mistakes.
The score was level after 30 minutes when Ewen Morgan went to clear the ball it took a bad bounce hitting his arm resulting in a Penalty. Derek McKenzie got a hand to it but there was just too much power 1-1
Almost completely from the off, we should have been back in front. Kyle Jaques found himself with only the keeper to beat but his shot was straight into the keeper’s arms.
Right on the stroke of half time Rattrays felt they should have had a penalty, Chris Smith was brought down in the box but nothing giving.
Half Time (1-1)
Ten minutes into the second half, Terry Johnston swung in a delightful corner to the back post and Derek Yeats headed home from 6 yards out for his 4th goal in as many games.
Yeats almost scored again minutes later, a great ball from Jamie Dunn frond Derek in the box but his shot was just inches over.
The 3rd goal eventually came on 80 minutes. Michael Frost swung a great ball into the box, Derek Yeats rose highest to knock the ball back to Ewen Morgan, who skipped past a defender and bulleted his shot into the back of the net.
Kintore tried to push to salvage something from the game but the defence was as solid as ever.
Full Time (3-1)
