Rattrays welcomes JS XI for our fifth game in 10 days
JS XI started the better team and almost took the lead on 10 minutes. Stephen Strachan went to head back to Derek McKenzie but there was a bit of a mix up and Stevie was relieved to see it brush past the post.
We finally had our real first chance 25 minutes in Derek Yeats beat the keeper in the air and knocked the ball down to Thomas Simmers but his volley from the edge of the box went wide.
JS was put under a lot of pressure with numerous corners, but we just could not make it count.
Just before half time we were reduced to 10 men, Thomas Simmers was showing a straight red card for an off the ball incident.
Half Time (0-0)
Despite being down to 10 men we started the second half really well and were well on top.
Chris Mackintosh almost opened the scoring but his shot from inside the box was saved well from the keeper.
A long kick up field from Dek found Derek Yeats who knocked the ball on and into the path of David Minett, as he was about to shoot he was brought down in the box……. PENALTY!!!!
Stephan Strachan had the confidence to step up and sent it straight down the middle.
Two minutes later we double our lead, the keeper fumbled a catch, It the hit Derek Yeats’s heel and rolled through the keeper legs to David Minett who could not believe his luck and tapped in from 2 yards out.
JS did not give up and managed to pull a goal back which made for a nervy last 15, but we held on for a well-deserved 3 points.
Full Time (2-1)
