Rattray’s welcomed Grammar FP’s to Heathryfold on a wet miserable day for the first league meeting between the two this season.
Within minutes of the game starting Rattray’s had the ball in the back of the net, FP’s keeper caught the ball but spilled after running into Martin Hughes, however as Martin tapped the ball in a foul was giving in favour of the keeper.
5 minutes later Rattray’s though they had taken the lead, Craig George whipped in a corner that missed everyone and appeared to have crossed the line but FP’s cleared as the ref never had a good enough angle to award the goal.
With 25 minutes gone Rattray’s got a free kick 30 yards out. Terry Johnston stepped up and struck a vicious low shot through everyone and into the back of the net 1-0
Just before half time we had a golden opportunity to double our lead but Ross Davidson fired miles over the bar from 15 yards out.
Half Time (1-0)
Minutes after the interval Grammar FP’s equalised when we failed to clear our lines, their striker’s shot from 25 yards left Derek McKenzie with no chance.
Moments later Rattray’s almost re-took the lead but Craig George’s shot across the keeper went inches past the post.
We did take the lead on 55 minutes; Ross Davidson ran through on goal, as his shot low under the keeper looked like going just past the post but Craig George managed to get a touch and tapped it in for 2-1
Grammar almost equalised again with a free kick from 20 yards but we were saved by the corner of the cross bar.
Rattray’s had several chances to put the game to bed but could not find that 3rd goal to kill the game.
With 4 minutes left on the clock FP’s got a goal from nothing when we failed to clear our lines yet again and their striker somehow managed to get a shot away from inside the area 2-2
Grammar could have won it right at the death, their striker was through one on one with Derek but he pulled off a brilliant save to make sure we did not drop all 3 points.
Full Time (2-2)
